Trading fees (all pairs)
We use a maker-taker fee model to determine trading fees. Different fees apply to orders that provide liquidity (maker orders) and to orders that take liquidity (taker orders). We calculate the fees based on the current pricing tier you are in at the time of your order execution. Trading volume is calculated across all trading pairs and is expressed in USD, based on the exchange rate at the time of the trade.
When determining a user’s pricing tier, the user’s 30-day trading volume in FX/Stablecoin pairs (see the list of applicable pairs below) receives a reduction of 80%; the calculated adjusted volume constitutes a basis for the application of reduced fees. For example, $100 of volume in an FX/Stablecoin pair counts as $20 in the 30-day volume calculation. Volumes in all other pairs have a standard weighting of 100%.
FX / Stablecoin pairs: EUR/USD, GBP/USD, PAX/GBP, PAX/USD, PAX/EUR, USDC/EUR, USDC/USDT, USDC/USD, USDT/EUR, USDT/USD, EURC/EUR, EURC/USDC, PYUSD/USD, PYUSD/EUR, EURCV/EUR, EURCV/USDT, VCHF/USD, VCHF/EUR, VEUR/USD, VEUR/EUR, ZUSD/USD, GYEN/USD, RLUSD/USD, RLUSD/EUR, RLUSD/USDT, EURCV/USDC, XSGD/USD, XSGD/USDT, DAI/USD
Placing an order that is filled instantly at the market price makes you a taker and a fee between 0.00% and 0.40% applies. Placing an order which is not filled instantly and is instead posted to the order book is a maker order. If your maker order is matched by another customer’s order, a lower fee between 0.00% and 0.30% applies.
For placing an order that is immediately only partially matched, you will pay a taker fee for that portion. What remains of the order is placed on the order book. Once it’s fully matched, it becomes a maker order, and a maker fee applies for this remaining portion of the order.
We recommend checking your fee tiers prior to trading to ensure you are in the updated pricing tier.

Basic Trading Spread
When using Basic Trading, the displayed price includes a spread added to the spot market price available on our trading platform. As a result of a guaranteed quote, the total cost of your Basic Trading transaction may be higher than if you were to place an order directly on the order book. The spread applied in Basic Trading consists of two components:
- Basic Spread (fixed):
- Stablecoins: 0.5%
- Other crypto-assets: 1.8%
- Volatility Spread (variable):
An additional spread may apply during periods of increased market volatility. This is dynamically calculated based on real-time market conditions and the specific crypto-asset being traded. The volatility spread is intended to reflect increased market risk, particularly during high volatility or price surges. In low-volatility market, this spread is reduced to zero.
- Stablecoins: 0% to 0.5%
- Other crypto-assets: 0% to 0.5%

If you choose to stop receiving rewards for your staked assets, the rewards will be collected by Bitstamp as a fee for enabling the opt-out functionality.
